ABOUT CROSSFIT

What is CrossFit?

“CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program built on constantly varied, if not randomised, functional movements executed at high intensity.”

– Founder Greg Glassman

The Aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness to prepare everyone for not only the unknown but the unknowable, CrossFit’s speciality is in NOT specialising. Crossfit is the “Sport of Fitness.”

CrossFit can be best defined by founder Greg Glassman’s article, “What is Fitness.”

In the past, those considered “fit” would normally come under the umbrella of an endurance athlete that would compete in Iron Mans, Triathalons and Marathons. The problem this is where does this leave the rest of our elite athletes including our Olympians such as:

  • Weightlifters (Power, Strength, Agility, Flexibility)
  • Basketballers (Power, Speed, Agility, Balance, Coordination, Accuracy, Stamina)
  • Table Tennis Players (Speed, Agility, Accuracy)
  • Sprinters (Speed)

What CrossFit aims to do is to get better at all areas of fitness including following components of fitness.
